If your hair routine consists of loads of dry shampoo, hairspray, and other styling products, you're likely experiencing buildup on the scalp. A clarifying shampoo could help, but a DIY hair mask made up of eggs and lemon may be easier to whip up. "The whites of the eggs are high in protein and vitamins that can strengthen damaged hair. They can also remove build-up, making them great for oily hair and scalp health," says Friese.

Nothing shows you have hair damage quite like the presence of breakage, which can manifest via split ends and frizzy, frayed, or stuck-out strands. If breakage is holding your hair back from looking its longest and strongest, consider this hair mask from luxury haircare brand Kerastase. While some hair products leave our hair feeling limp and scraggly that was not the case with this formula. Not only did we notice some hair growth but we also realized that our hair felt significantly smoother and shinier, and displayed a noticeable increase in volume and bounciness after blow drying. People have been using natural ingredients for hair growth for centuries.

It contains soothing ingredients like piroctone olamine, rosemary oil, and peppermint oil, which work together to calm and purify the scalp, effectively treating any scalp concerns, while also stimulating hair follicles. Pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E also work to hydrate and nourish the hair, making it softer and shinier. It nourished our hair and didn’t leave behind any greasy residue or excess product, the way so many hair masks often do.

The velvety smooth consistency of this mask feels truly lovely and its creamy (but not too creamy) texture distributed evenly across our hair. Frizz can be caused by damage, the environment or both — and some types of hair are inherently more prone to it. Keep fuzz at bay by laying down and sealing hair's cuticle, or outer layer, with an emollient ingredient like castor oil, which "acts as a protectant and can help fortify strands," White says. Derived from the castor plant's seeds and "comprised mainly of the fatty acid ricinoleic acid, it coats and conditions to improve smoothness," explains GH Beauty Lab chemist Danusia Wnek. The Deep Conditioning Mask has become a must-have for anyone whose strands are suffering from one too many chemical treatments or heat styling sessions.

You're probably familiar with dry shampoo, but what do you know about dry hair masks? Allow us to introduce you to IGK Antisocial, the first of its kind to deliver a bond-building, cuticle-smoothing, dry overnight formula that strengthens tired hair from the inside out. We tested each hair mask over a four-week period to evaluate the benefits it provided. We ranked each hair mask according to our criteria, and these are the 10 highest-ranking hair masks we tested.

For the best results, mix pure aloe vera with water and spritz it on the hair as a pick-me-up or use a tablespoon of aloe vera and mix it in with your favorite conditioner or hair mask on wash day. Mayonnaise can transform your hair, even though it might seem strange at first to apply it to your hair. It contains a blend of oils, egg yolks, vinegar, and lemon juice, all of which are essential to maintaining healthy hair.

Unlike many other masks we’ve tried, which have a thick, creamy consistency, this was noticeably lighter, thinner and felt more water-based than oil-based. But as soon as we doused our hair with the mask, all our concerns were laid to rest. It not only felt amazing on our fine hair, but it also spread evenly and easily without causing any greasiness. Marisa Garshick, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at Manhattan Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in New York, agrees and advises starting slowly when incorporating any homemade mask into your routine.

Eyebrows play a significant role in framing the face and influencing overall expression. For those with sparse or thinning brows, achieving the desired fullness can be a daily struggle. While cosmetic solutions like eyebrow pencils and gels offer temporary fixes, many people seek natural ways to promote healthy eyebrow growth.

That all said, it is the most expensive mask on this list and one GH Editor found it left her hair a little matted after use. Oribe haircare has become a popular choice for the beauty-obsessed which is why we have included the brand's products in various shopping guides, from the best hair glazes to the best shampoo for dry hair. Its Signature Moisture Masque is another top-performer that has close to a perfect five-star rating on Dermstore. According to our Diversity Pledge, 15% of products in our newly-published market roundups will feature Black-owned and/or Black-founded brands.

One is selenium sulfide, — this combats the overgrowth of Malassezia yeast, which is linked to the development of dandruff. The other is salicylic acid, which can help break down the scales and flakes on your scalp so they wash away more easily. This ultra-affordable shampoo features not one but two active ingredients to fight dandruff. Many anti-dandruff shampoos are super drying, but fortunately, this formula includes moisturizing glycerin and vitamin E. This shampoo also features quinoa protein, which contains all nine essential amino acids.

To prepare this mask, mix 2 teaspoons of amla powder and 2 teaspoons of shikakai powder in a bowl. Apply the paste on your scalp and hair and let it rest for 45 minutes. This hair mask is unique because it has hydrolyzed keratin, which helps to rebuild and fortify the hair's structure, and vegetable-derived proteins, which aid in repairing and strengthening the hair follicles. It also contains avocado oil, which fights dryness and provides hydration to brittle hair, leaving it feeling soft, smooth, and more manageable to comb through and style. The 11 Best Shampoos for Hair Growth in 2024, According to Experts

Amika's Dream Routine Overnight Hydrating Hair Mask is one such formula that doesn't require a rinse-out come morning. Unlike rinse-out treatments and leave-in conditioners, an overnight hair mask won't typically offer a styled look. Especially if you're using a mask for damaged hair, you can usually expect the formula to be thick, goopy, or oily, which may make your hair look temporarily greasy or heavy. When you wake up in the morning, you can wash it out and style it as usual. There are several formulas on this list that can be rinsed out, though, like the Vegamour HYDR-8 Deep Moisture Repair Mask. Now, you're probably familiar with the brand's popular skincare staples, but believe us when we say that their hair care products are legit, too.

What is the difference between a hair mask and a hair conditioner?

The mask made our hair more manageable post-shower, especially when it came to tangles. We noticed that there were fewer knots in our hair after using this mask, and the ones that we did have broke apart with minimal resistance. The mask also seemed to strengthen our ends and reverse some of the damage we experienced from heat styling. For this piece, beauty writer Carol Lee spoke with trusted hair experts about hair growth. She also searched the internet for top-rated hair masks for growth, perused reviews for dozens of popular options, and evaluated each on their features and customer reviews. Mielle went beyond viral on TikTok for its Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp Hair Strengthening Oil, which nourishes the scalp to encourage hair growth.

To use a coconut oil hair mask to combat the signs of male-pattern baldness or alopecia, substitute the tea tree oil for 2-3 drops of rosemary oil or peppermint oil. Its oil can stimulate hair growth, prevent dandruff, and improve blood circulation to the scalp and follicles. Stir the egg yolk and apply the mask using fingers, making sure to coat the top of the scalp and the ends of the hair. Leave on for one hour and rinse with cold water (hot water may cause the egg to curdle). "Shampoos formulated for hair loss or thinning can help slow down these conditions, but they won't reverse them or actually cause hair to regrow," explains Han.

If you're battling nearly-dead, straw-like ends, we urge you to give this lovely hair mask a try overnight, just be sure to rinse it out in the morning. This, says Dr. Rina Allawh, a Philadelphia-based dermatologist, will leave your hair feeling silky smooth. “Thermal damage may leave the hair feeling brittle, frizzy, and often may contribute to breakage of the hair shaft, hair thinning, and hair loss,” she says.

Curls Blueberry Bliss Reparative Hair Mask

From the moment we put this mask on, it felt soothing and was creamy as can be without any clumps. Our parched, dehydrated hair felt significantly softer and silkier, in addition to looking flyaway-free and overall sleek. Our only real complaint was that those smooth, nourishing effects weren’t very long-lasting, so we had to keep using the mask regularly to sustain results.

It could be more moisturizing—so it may not be a great option for those with dry or super curly hair—but it's suitable for all hair types and can be used on the daily. The lactic acid in yoghurt provides moisture and prevents frizz in hair, making it a great homemade hair mask for frizzy hair. The ingredients can be mixed according to the haircare goals you want to achieve in this curd mask for hair. Mix in avocados for shine and strength, and lemons and limes for PH balance. Safflower or sunflower seed oil is a good organic oil to add if you want to add ultimate shine. After mixing yoghurt with the ingredients of your choice, apply the mask to your hair and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes.

We also include picks for damaged or treated hair so you can help restore your locks to their healthy shine. With so many hair masks on the market, you'll want to pay attention to the intended use when shopping around. Many options are meant to be rinsed out after a few minutes, but overnight masks are formulated to work for several hours.

Tomato extract deserves a special shout-out— it’s chock full of vitamin C which can help infuse antioxidants into the hair. You may think it takes a whole slew of products to add visible length and provide damage control to your locks—but we’ve found all it takes is a few hair washes with Redken’s Extreme Conditioner. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our results after using this formula over six weeks. Our tresses grew about half an inch, looked visibly more hydrated thanks to the added shine and silky feel, and boasted a more frizz-free appearance as well. The ingredients list features hair-strengthening amino acids, specifically arginine, as well as citric acid—both of which can aid hair growth.

I view them as complementary products that patients can add to their hair loss regimen, which usually features a prescription medication." "This shampoo contains amaranth extract which acts as a natural hair strengthener and also has ceramides and biotin to improve the strength of each strand, preventing premature breakage," explains Han. Studies have shown that the lower the lipid content of your hair, the more weak, brittle, and damage-prone your hair is — and fortunately, this formula also boasts phospholipids to support healthy hair growth. "This helps balance oil production without over-drying the scalp, hydrates and nourishes both the scalp and hair, and visibly enhances hair's volume, strength, and texture," she explains.

It’s also important to refrain from using any ingredients you are allergic to. And while most people tend to avoid the scalp when using a hair mask, Medchill says to go for it, unless your hair is fine, thin or prone to greasiness. “Scalp health is everything right now, so it’s ideal to use a mask on your scalp if you can,” she says. We’d consider ourselves somewhat of a hair mask expert, having tried dozens throughout the years — but dae’s Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment is definitely one of the best we've come across.

"In general, DIY masks can be incorporated one to two times per week or once per month depending on the specific concern," she says. Start with once a month and see how your hair reacts; you can always up the frequency to weekly if your hair and scalp need and can tolerate the mask more often. Once we started strategizing our shower time, the results were plentiful, and gave us the momentum to stand around in the shower without complaint. Our thin, curly hair felt nourished from root to tip, and our hair was visibly longer after six weeks, with way less frizz. We at Byrdie understand that not only do we all have different hair goals, but also different prices we’re willing to pay to remedy our more persistent hair issues.

Admittedly, results take some time (you won't notice miracle results right away), but the more you use the mask, the faster your hair will spring back to life. If you have thicker, drier, or curlier hair that thrives off of moisture, you may want to double up with another leave-in conditioner in order to avoid feeling dry. This leave-in treatment draws on a blend of vitamins and iris root extract to coat each strand and smooth out the follicles, keeping flyaways in check and preventing future damage.

That's pretty standard for any shampoo made for thin hair, though — these formulas don't tend to contain some of the richer oils that may weigh thinner strands down. Known for its supporting role in homemade apple pies and morning lattes, cinnamon is also an amazing addition to a hair growth hair mask. When applied to the scalp, cinnamon can stimulate an increase in blood circulation. Living just beneath our scalp are 100,000 hair follicles, each responsible for a single strand of hair.

The 7 Best Hair Colors for Hazel Eyes Trending in 2024

best hair color for hazel eyes

According to Tardo, honey accents or highlights are a great way to draw from the gold in hazel eyes—and no further proof is needed than this look on Tyra Banks. The honey highlights, along with the barely there auburn undertones, not only make her eyes pop but also add brightness and warmth to her face. A medium ash brown hair color normally comes with tints of green and blue underneath. However, ensure that you complement it with colors that don’t make you look too pale or sick. A medium shade of auburn is the perfect choice for cool-toned skin and hazel eyes. It doesn't matter if you prefer liquid, powder, or cream eyeshadow—choosing the right eyeshadow colors is what’s going to make your hazel eyes pop.

Purples

When I can't be bothered to layer multiple shades but still want to play with eyeshadow, I turn to eyeshadow sticks—and Charlotte Tilbury's are one of my favorites. They are so easy to use and can be used for multiple looks—just switch up the angle and pressure you apply them. The shade Golden Quartz was specially made for hazel-eyed babes to use for daytime looks. Just swipe this bronzey stick across the lashline to make your hazel eyes sparkle. Hazel eyes are quite versatile, so trying a range of neutrals, such as grays, beige, or darker browns can really make them stand out. Kosich says that depending on the light, eyes this shade can switch from brown to green to yellow and back again.

Ultimate Hair Colors for Women with Hazel Eyes

Experiment with different hair colors and shades to find the perfect one for you. And don’t hesitate to consult a professional stylist before making any drastic changes to your hair. Although eye color is determined by genetics, no one nationality is known for having hazel eyes, as this eye color is in people all over the world.

"I love the size of this palette, it's smaller, so it is great for travel and touch ups," she says. Use the metallic grey across the lid, the mauve as a transition shade, and the deep purple along the lashlines for a killer smokey eye. A muted burgundy is the most complementary color to olive green, which makes it a gorgeous pairing with hazel eyes—thanks to the green flecks you might have. "Burgundy also performs double-duty as a pseudo-neutral, mixing-and-matching flawlessly with just about any color palette," says Kosich. People with warm tones will have red or golden undertones to their skin color or tone. Generally, this is a characteristic of people with pale skin tone, or light skin tone, or simply those who have tanned.

Toasted almond hair color adds a soft and warm touch to your hair. Ginger spice hair color adds a bold and fiery touch to your look. The warm, red tones in this shade emphasize the green and gold flecks in hazel eyes, while also enhancing the natural warmth in your skin.

Read on to uncover the best hair color for your hazel eyes, depending on whether they are browner, more green, a little gold, or a unique combination of all three. One thing you can try with your hazel eyes is to match its rich, coffee color with a lighter shade for your hair color—for example, a preppy shade of light beach blonde. So, if you’re thinking about changing your hair color and have hazel eyes, don’t hesitate to consider the gorgeous and versatile option of brown hair dye.

Hair Colors That Effortlessly Highlight Hazel Eyes

Grayson says you can never go wrong with earth tones when accentuating hazel eyes. "I love the simplicity of using either a matte mauve, taupe, beige, or brown eyeshadow or layering them all together on hazel eyes with just a touch of mascara," he tells us. "Why? Because it draws all attention to your crazy, beautiful, multicolored iris. Enough said."

The best thing about this color is that it’s soft enough that you’ll always feel comfortable wearing it, even in professional settings. Gray is one of the most flattering hair colors for hazel-eyed women. Go for a gray with lilac undertones since purple and hazel work perfectly together.

For brown-eyed beauties, a golden honey color will also bring focus to your eyes. Consult with a professional hairstylist or colorist to find the perfect hair color that suits you best and complements your unique features. Platinum blonde tips create a contrast between the darker striations in the eyes and the darker layers of the hair. If you have hazel eyes, any color in the blue and violet spectrum will work. You can be a little bold or daring especially because it's such a bright color.

While the first is easy to determine, the latter takes a bit more of an effort. Women with fair skin tones and who are feeling adventurous should definitely add this fiery copper hair color to the list. Those who have hazel eyes do so because a smaller amount of melanin – the pigment responsible for eye color and skin color – develops in the eyes.

The cool undertones in the blonde can beautifully complement the warmth in the skin, creating a visually striking contrast. Sun-kissed blonde locks with highlights and lowlights help to create a prismatic effect for your eyes. Every color that makes up your particular hazel blend will stand out like a jewel.

Golden honey hair color combines warm golden tones with soft honey hues. This shade enhances the golden and amber elements in hazel eyes, while also adding a radiant and sun-kissed glow to your complexion. If you have light brown, nearly copper-colored brown eyes, honey blonde hair is a match for you. The L’Oréal Paris Féria in Dark Gold Blonde will play up the warm, amber tones in your eyes. Hazel eyes tend to stand out most on dark skin, and it’s only natural to want a hair color that complements this beautiful combination. Cool-toned hair color for dark skin pairs well with chestnut, or deep chocolate.

Moreover, this hairstyle also matches greatly with hazel eyes. The hazel eye color is undeniably unique and mesmerizing, as it presents a captivating blend of brown and green hues. From Lily Collins to Shailene Woodley, some of the most beautiful and successful celebrities in the world have hazel eyes. This hair color choice can also enhance the features of someone with hazel eyes, as the coolness of the blonde can bring out the different shades of green and brown in the eyes.

To help you find your perfect hue, we consulted Matt Swinney, global creative director for Rusk Hair, and Jeremy Tardo, celebrity hair colorist and editorial stylist. Scroll on for hair color inspo for hazel eyes, complete with proof from your favorite hazel-eyed celebs. If your eyes are hazel and you are blessed with pale skin, medium champagne hair is befitting.

If you’re lucky enough to have hazel eyes, then your beautiful eyes contain hues of amber, blue, brown, gold, and green. And whether you have hazel eyes and fair skin, hazel eyes and dark skin, or hazel eyes and olive skin, there is the perfect hair color to complement your skin tone and your eyes. A cream blonde—somewhere between those warmer hues and ashy tones—will emphasize the golden brown flecks in hazel eyes, Tardo shares. The shade adds enough warmth to bring out the softer browns and golds in Lady Gaga's eyes while blending in harmoniously with her cooler skin tone.

Since black hair color can make pale skin look washed out make sure you find the right black hue for your skin tone too. A rich butterscotch hair color will beautifully complement your green eyes. With hints of caramel, honey, and light brown the L’Oréal Paris Féria in Light Golden Brown is sure to be a perfect match. Dirty blonde, golden brown, sun-kissed streaks—any natural hair color is sure to bring your hazel eyes into focus. The best part about the natural look is that it works well with any style and it’s easy to maintain. Green hazel eyes do well with dark colors so be bold and try this strawberry sherbet that blends a semi-vibrant red and pink color.

Historic Home Museums in Los Angeles

in my fathers house are many mansions

This passage suggests that the rewards we receive in heaven are based on how we live our lives and the choices we make. It also implies that not everyone will receive the same rewards, but rather, it will vary depending on their actions and faith. After architect Rudolph Schindler came to California in the 1920s to oversee construction of Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House, he designed his residence in West Hollywood.

God Is Truth

It is with this understanding that Jesus told His men that they would fellowship with Him in heaven. What might appear to the 11 as a disaster was a blessing. Without Christ’s death on the cross, they would never make it to heaven. Schindler's private residence is open to the public several days a week, and no reservations are required.

Over and above the vague mystery of the Father’s house, my departure is that of your “Forerunner,” and my presence will make a new resting-place – it will localize your home. The disciples dreaded the thought that they would be separated from Jesus.

In My Father’s House Are Many Mansions: What Does John 14:2 Mean?

Many Christians have often heard about the concept of mansions in heaven, but it’s unclear what determines the type of mansion one will receive. In conclusion, the term “mansion” used in the Bible seems to be symbolic of heavenly riches and eternal life with God rather than a literal mansion. Nevertheless, the fact remains that heaven will be unimaginably beautiful and a place of unimaginable prosperity. As a believer in Christ, we can take comfort that we have an eternal inheritance and a place in the household of God. The house is open for guided tours without appointment most Saturdays.

This house is in an area of the Silver Lake neighborhood called The Colony, where you'll find a number of Neutra designs on and around Neutra Place. You can see them from the outside by touring off Earl Street between Silver Lake Boulevard and Glendale Boulevard. It sounds more like modern times than 1915, but Dr. Roy Lanterman was ahead of his time when he wanted to build a fireproof bungalow made of reinforced concrete. The Doheny Mansion is on the Doheny campus of Mount St. Mary's College at 10 Chester Place, just south of downtown LA.

The complex includes the main house, garage, and one other surviving structure. The house is located at the crest of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Mulholland Drive and is open for guided tours by reservation only.

As Christians, we believe that our rewards in heaven are something to look forward to, but what exactly are they? Many people have heard of receiving mansions in heaven, but what do these mansions truly represent? In this blog post, we will explore this unique aspect of the afterlife. Understanding the traditional Christian beliefs about salvation and eternal life is an essential step towards receiving mansions in heaven.

Many consider Neutra one of the most important twentieth-century architects and this house tour gives a chance to see his home. Architect Richard Neutra's private residence in Silver Lake seemed radical at the time, a glass house with rooftop and balcony gardens. It housed his office and two families on a small 60 x 70-foot lot. But then this mode of interpretation implies a previous definite instruction as to the part he himself was going to take in the furnishing of the heavenly mansion. – In my Father’s house are many mansions; or, abiding-places, homes of rest and peace and sojourn.

The Neutra VDL Studio and Residences

in my fathers house are many mansions

The Research House was rebuilt with the most modern materials and design adaptations by Neutra and his son Dion in 1966. There is also a Garden House on the property that was occupied by Dion Neutra and his family. Tours of the VDL House are conducted on Saturdays by architecture students from Cal Poly Pomona.

Without that mediation, His disciples would have no place with Jesus. “Father’s house” refers to the domain of God; heaven is a place where we will live with both Jesus and God. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. Despite its oversized fame, it's a modest-sized house, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a 300-degree-plus view of the city of Los Angeles. Designed by Pierre Koenig in 1959 from a concept developed by the house's owner Buck Stahl, it's also called Case Study House #22.

As believers, we should strive to develop a deep relationship with Christ and live a life of service to others, knowing that our spiritual inheritance is secure in Him. As a Christian, you may have heard sermons about mansions in heaven. It is a well-known phrase used to describe the heavenly abode of believers in Jesus Christ. However, have you ever wondered if these mansions are literal buildings or symbolic representations of heavenly rewards? The happiness of heaven is spoken of as in a father’s house. There are many mansions, for there are many sons to be brought to glory.

“My Father” is the grandest name of all – the Divine fatherhood, as conceived in the consciousness of Jesus and revealed to them. There will be a reunion with Him where His disciples will live in homes in heaven. Without His dying for their sins, there would be no eternal home.

I also like that the museum’s exhibits prompt visitors to reflect on the costs and consequences of conflict, making for a thought-provoking and meaningful experience. The museum’s impressive Arsenal Hall, with its high vaulted ceilings, is an architectural curiosity. It is filled with an armada of historical guns, canons, mortars, missiles, and howitzers setting the tone for the intriguing journey that lies ahead.

The city's design ethos influences everything, from modern hotels to acclaimed restaurants and their New Nordic cuisine. A highlight of the Viking Ship Museum is the boatyard, where you can witness traditional boat-building techniques in action. The Danish Jewish Museum (Dansk Jødisk Museum) tells the story of Denmark’s Jewish community since the arrival of the first families in the 17th century. It was designed by Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskind and is located in a small wing within the regal confines of the Danish Royal Library. There are interactive spaces where children and adults can play, learn, and get hands-on with architecture and design concepts, including virtual reality components.

Designmuseum Danmark was founded in 1890 by the Confederation of Danish Industries in Copenhagen and the Ny Carlsberg Museumslegat. It opened to the public in 1895 in a newly-built museum building on what is now H.C. Andersens Boulevard and moved in 1926 to its current location, a former hospital. The museum’s main goal from the beginning was to communicate the idea of quality within design. By exhibiting exemplary objects and collections, it seeks to raise the level of Danish industrial products and act as a source of inspiration for people working in industry. It also aims at making contemporary consumers more critical and quality-oriented.

Practical Information for Visiting the Design Museum Denmark

Two of the unmissable highlights are Matisse’s Portrait of Madame Matisse and Derain’s Woman in a Chemise. The SMK is housed in two buildings – one dating back to the 19th century and the other, a stylish, modern extension, linked by a bridge over a sculpture gallery. The Glyptotek houses the most extensive collection of Rodin sculptures outside France, including the iconic “The Thinker” and “The Kiss”. The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek’s collection of French and Danish art from the 19th and 20th centuries is equally awe-inspiring. With a focus on French impressionists and Danish Golden Age artists, you’ll find works by masters like Monet, Renoir, Degas, Matisse, Bonnard, and Cézanne alongside renowned Danish artists like Købke and Lundbye. The Egyptian Collection is outstanding, boasting a series of fascinating artifacts including mummies, impressive sarcophagi, and intricately carved statues; the most notable piece is a small, 3,000-year-old hippopotamus.

Explore Danish history from its prehistoric past to the present day at the country’s largest museum. An exhibition on Denmark’s colonial history in the Caribbean, India, West Africa and Greenland is unmissable. These buildings represent various regional architectural styles and social classes, from the humble thatched fishermen’s huts to the grand manor houses. Inside each building, you’ll find period furnishings and household items, providing an intimate look at the everyday lives of people from different historical periods. Located beside the picturesque Nyhavn Canal, in one of the city’s most beautiful baroque buildings, Kunsthal Charlottenborg is one of Northern Europe’s largest and most attractive spaces for contemporary art.

The museum has undergone a comprehensive renovation of the interior of the historic buildings and of sandstone decorations, ‘Amaliegadepladsen’ and all exhibition and guest areas. In the middle of the museum lies the open museum garden, Grønnegården, a bit of breathing space in the middle of the city. The garden is used as an exhibition space, and in the summer it is open with outdoor café service and picnic tables under the open sky.

The museum’s main attractions are its over 100 historic buildings, each carefully transported from its original location from various regions of Denmark, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland. Known as “Denmark in a Nutshell,” the collection includes farmhouses, cottages, a school, a village shop, windmills, and even an 18th-century manor house. The museum also houses an impressive collection of Asian art and crafts, and a European Art of the 18th-century section which reflects upon the designs that influenced Danish aesthetics.

The museum’s brightly colored walls, the Egyptian motifs, and the extensive use of Pompeian styles create an atmosphere that transports you back to the Neoclassical style that Thorvaldsen himself helped popularize. The museum also houses a significant collection of Flemish, Dutch French, Italian, and German paintings. Of all these works, Andrea Mantegna’s Christ as the Suffering Redeemer and Lucas Cranach the Elder’s Melancholia are the standouts. Tucked away in the bustling heart of Copenhagen, you’ll find the Design Museum Denmark – an institution that provides a fascinating glimpse into the principles that have made Danish design a global phenomenon.

The Natural History Museum of Denmark promises an exciting exploration of our planet’s fascinating past and vibrant biodiversity. From ancient fossils to captivating animal specimens, from cosmic artifacts to geological wonders, this museum offers a comprehensive and engaging encounter with the natural world. The Hirschsprung Collection also houses a vast collection of works from the Skagen Painters, a group of artists like P. S. Krøyer and Anna and Michael Ancher who congregated in the northernmost part of Denmark in the late 19th century.

The Magic of FormThis comprehensive exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the best of 20th-century furniture, design, crafts, visual arts, and architecture. Here guests can see the critically-acclaimed audience favourite The Magic of Form – Design and Art, which was shown in 2021 at Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg. The exhibition is created in cooperation with Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and Kunsten and brings together highlights from the three museums’ beautiful collections. The Danish Design Museum in Copenhagen is one of the most popular sights amongst visitors to the capital of Denmark. The emphasis in the museum is on Danish designs of the 20th and 21st centuries but international works are also on display.

The 8 Best Mediterranean Cruises Of 2024.

Several times throughout the tour we were able to disembark, view the sites and take photos. – Ancient Olympia – After a 30-minute bus ride we reached the small town of Olympia. Only a short walk from the parking lot are the ruins of where the Olympic Games originally took place. Our guide actually grew up on a hill overlooking the ancient ruins and used to play there as a child. After receiving his degree in archeology, he returned to his hometown and is now a guide.

NEW! Mediterranean Discoveries

The trail is really a boardwalk that traverses many small streams with what seems like an endless number of pools and waterfalls. Once we reached the bottom, we were rewarded with a beautiful view of the terraced Skradinski Buk waterfalls cascading in front of us. These 17 cataracts are considered to be among the most beautiful calcium-carbonate waterfalls in Europe, tumbling a total of 150 feet along a 1,312-foot stretch of the river. We did Istanbul to Athens with Renaissance in January (20-some odd years ago).

Variety Cruises

One of the highlights of the tour was the Cathedral of St. James, a Roman Catholic Church  built in the 1400’s. We also walked along the water among the shops and restaurants before returning to the ship. – Sailing In to Šibenik – We always love to be on deck when the ship sails in to a new port. Upon arriving in Venice, we were taken by bus to the Venice Cruise Terminal for the check-in process. They have determined that the large ships have caused too much damage to the fragile channels and adjacent buildings. As a result, ships must now dock miles away from the city, at less picturesque spots.

The first thing that caught out eye was that the town is surrounded by very tall and steep mountains. After an early World Café breakfast, we headed out for our first excursion. • Dubrovnik, Croatia –  We had heard so much about Dubrovnik over the years, and we were very excited to finally arrive. The approach to the city from the water was gorgeous, especially in the early morning light, as another beautiful sunny day awaited us.

– Walking Tour of Kotor – After lunch we joined a walking tour of Kotor. Since the ship docked right next to Old Town, it was an easy walk to see some of the historic sites, including Kampana Tower and St Nicholas Church. In the photos, you can also see the steep mountains that surround Kotor. We are both outdoors-type people and like to walk/hike, so we tried to select excursions that tended to lean toward more demanding physical activity. However, Viking offers plenty of excursions that are not as physically demanding, but still allow folks to see all the iconic sights. But in this article, we are recapping only the activities and excursions that we selected for our itinerary.

Highlights of Mediterranean Cruises

Now that we have discussed some general information, let’s get started with the cruise itinerary. The Iconic Adriatic Antiquities cruise actually consists of two back-to-back ocean cruises. The first cruise and the focus of this article, is Venice, The Adriatic and Greece, which sails from Venice to Athens. You can click this link that covers the  second cruise, Journey to Antiquities, which sails from Athens to Rome.

Additionally, Celesytal is unique in that it offers year-round Aegean Sea sailings cruising round-trip from Athens and ranging in length from three to 14 nights. On land, Celeystal guests can choose from a selection of the line’s “Authentic Excursions,” which are specially curated, small-group, expert-led experiences designed to take travelers off the beaten path.

Explore the medieval streets; visit the Cathedral of St. Tryphon and the Maritime Museum. Continuously inhabited since at least 3,000 BC, the city has experienced many different periods of independence and occupation, including rule by the Romans, Crusaders and the Ottoman Empire. Athens has been called the “birthplace of democracy.” Its legacy looms large from atop Acropolis Hill, the pinnacle of ancient Greece. This open air museum is an astonishing repository of once-mighty structures.

Beyond, the island of Crete is blessed with generous beaches, soaring mountains and coursing rivers. It is also where the distinct mantinades—couplets of love accompanied by Cretan instruments—could break out at any number of cafés where patrons sip tsikoudia, a grape-based brandy distilled in the hills. Itinerary and shore excursions are subject to change and may vary by departure. Explore the Aegean Sea during a 10-night voyage to important sites of antiquity. Visit Athens, the “birthplace of democracy,” and Crete, home of the mysterious Minoan civilization.

His knowledge of the area was one of the reasons this excursion was so interesting. We viewed the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and once home to a gold-and-ivory statue of the Greek god. We also viewed the remains of the Temple of Hera and the circular Philippeion temple. – Old Fortress of Corfu – Viking ran shuttles from the ship into town all day, every 30 minutes. So, after returning to the ship for lunch (on the Aquavit Terrace), we took the Viking shuttle to the Old Fortress. We had seen the fortress on the morning tour and decided to go back to explore.

Skradin is a lovely town where we visited the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and then had free time to explore the shops and restaurants. We stopped at a small cafe where we sat outside enjoying coffee and a local pastry before our bus ride back to the ship. This excursion is rated as ‘Demanding’, since there are a number of steps both leading down the trail to the waterfalls and then back up the top. These steps can appear daunting, but the guide walked very slowly and stopped frequently. There were a few people who decided not to take the stairs, opting instead to take in the views from the top. While our ocean cruise started in Venice, we spent Four Days in Florence and Tuscany  before traveling to Venice.

The line has taken the industry by storm, doing away with cliche cruise staples like main dining rooms, large buffets, and notoriously small staterooms. Head to a husky farm on the outskirts of Longyearbyen to embark on a thrilling experience in the Arctic Tundra. Meet your guide and team of huskies who love to run through the wilderness, pulling a wheel-equipped sled across the snow. Take your seat and set off into the Advent Valley as your expert driver picks the best route.
